This is the shortest path from nothing to a working setup. Each step links to more detail where there is more to say.
1. Create the workspace
Sign in and create a workspace. The slug you choose becomes part of every link to it, so pick something short and stable — renaming it later changes those links.
2. Connect the Roblox group
Settings → Roblox → Roblox group. Paste your group id.
This pulls in your group's name, icon and member count, and is what lets Evalyn match staff to Roblox ranks. Nothing that involves ranks works without it.
Optionally add an Open Cloud key to enable game syncing and rank changes from Evalyn. It is only needed if you want Evalyn to change things in the group, not to read them.
3. Set your timezone
Settings → General → Time zone.
Do this before you schedule anything. Recurring sessions, quota periods and activity resets are all computed in this zone; leaving it wrong means things happen at the right clock time in the wrong place.
4. Install the handler script
Developer → Scripts & Modules → Generate script, then put it in ServerScriptService in your game and switch on Allow HTTP Requests.
This is what makes shifts, activity tracking, chat logs and in-game moderation work. See The Roblox handler.
5. Connect Discord
Settings → Discord. Either add the official Evalyn bot or run your own with a token. See Connecting Discord.
6. Invite your staff
Settings → Access → Invitations creates a join link. If your Roblox group is connected, members can also be synced in from it.
7. Decide what you actually use
Settings → Features switches whole areas on and off. Turning something off hides it from the sidebar for everyone and removes its Discord commands — it does not delete anything, and switching it back restores it as it was.
Most groups do not need everything. Start with what you will use this week.
Where to go next
- Shifts — the thing most groups turn on first.
- Sessions — scheduling trainings and shifts.
- Roles and permissions — before you invite people with authority.
